Undeniable Grace

“ Even when you feel like you’ve used up all your passes
or when you think you’ve overstayed your welcome
when it seems like you’ve taken advantage
of this love freely bestowed
His grace for you will never run out

“The Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me.”
Ac 20:23 NIV

About 75 percent of believers now live in Third World countries, often in anti-Christian environments. Xu Yonghai is one of them. He worked to see the legalization of house churches in China. The government responded by locking him up for two years in an eight-by-eight-foot cell in a Beijing prison. There was no bathroom, only a pipe in a corner from which water flowed onto the concrete. “My cell was the last stop for prisoners sentenced to die,” he said. “At times there were as many as three other prisoners in the tiny damp room, awaiting their date with the executioner.” Yonghai survived through prayer, meditation, and writing. Using a bar of soap to write on the walls of his cell, he outlined the major points of a book about God. When he was finished, he committed the thoughts to memory, and upon his release he turned his prison notes into a fifty-thousand-word book entitled God the Creator. More often than not, your difficulties and hardships confirm you’re in the will of God rather than out of it! Paul writes: “I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace” (vv. 23-24 NIV). Note the word grace. No matter how difficult the will of God may be, you can accomplish it by drawing each day on His limitless supply of grace.

Soak In His Word

Its reflection time. As the second month of the year is wrapping up, I would like for us to reflect on our lives individually. At the start of the year, we create lists and envision of things we want to accomplish but as the months pass by, we realize that we didn’t stick to our word. We didn’t make a conscious effort to work on our projects, or task we wanted to accomplish.

Before the start of this year, my new years resolution was consistency. Why, you may ask? The reason is because many times I start something but never finish it. I get excited and start the project but then I become lazy and postpone everything. I don’t want my year to look like the years before. I believe with all of my heart that 2017 is going to be a great one by the Grace of God. So what do I want to be consistent in? Well I want to be consistent in reading the Bible, attending Bible study, writing on my blogs more, drinking 5-6 bottles of water, writing more poems, and etc. So far in everything I have enlisted, I can say that I am doing well in reading the Bible, attending Bible Study, writing on blog, writing poems but not so much on drinking 5-6 bottles a day. I honestly prefer drinking filtered water but I find it hard to drink water from my University so I tend to use water bottles. In month of July last year, I started a water challenge. The challenge consists of drinking water only. NO JUICE. NO SODA. Nothing besides water. I don’t drink soda. My family doesn’t drink soda, so that area isn’t hard for me. I drink Cranberry juice but besides that nothing else. I’ve been doing well by far when it comes to drinking water but actually drinking 5-6 or even more is the area where I am lacking. I need to do better.

When it comes to growing spiritually, I’ll give myself 8.5/10. I’m becoming consistent in studying the word. Not that alone but applying it to the way I live. It’s not about reading or studying the word and memorizing scripture. We have to live as children of the light. Walking in the light. I’m learning so much as I attend Bible Study. We are currently studying the Book of 1 John. Even though it’s good to attend Bible study, it is also vital for us to spend time with God. For some of us, we are always in a rush. We don’t have time for God. We make time for everything else but spending time in his word is too much. You can go to church for two hours or more but not doing anything else for the rest of the week will leave your spirit thirsty. In order for us to grow closer to God, we have to do our parts.

Questions From Me To You.

  1. How is your relationship with God?
  2. What are some ways in which you can grow deeply in your walk with God?
  3. Have you attended any Bible studies since the year began?
  4. What book in the Bible are you currently studying?
  5.  Have you started working on what you want to accomplish this year?
  6. What seeds have you planted? Are you waiting for someone else to water your garden?
  7. What are ways in which you can let you dreams become a reality?

As you take the time to reflect, have a journal and a pen by your side. Write down your thoughts. Write it down. Ponder. Write. Pray. Make it happen. Stay blessed & Encouraged. 🙂

  • Marriage and family outreaches to 12 million people annually through media, conferences and locally hosted events.”

Personal Experience:

I found out about Cru in 2014. I was a transfer from a community college and I was looking for a Christ based organization on campus. In my school, during the fall semester there are information booths set for new students with different organizations that we may be interested in. I was already apart of another organization called Intervarsity. It’s also another campus ministry spreading the word about Jesus. I didn’t join Cru until the Spring semester of 2015. I was on the phone telling my friend about the organizations I’m apart of and she asked me if I knew about Cru because she went to a conference called “Radiate”. I told her that I actually signed up to be apart of Cru but because of my schedule, I wasn’t able to attend Fall semester. So I made every effort to attend my Spring semester and let me tell you, it was amazing. I actually just came back from our second meet up this semester and it was a blessing. In a few, I will share the video that we watched and discussed along with the questions. So if you are looking for a Christ based organization to join in your university, check out Cru or Intervarsity or if your like me, join both. For me, I’ve come across people who tell me to stick to one but I cannot because there’s always something that I learn. I must admit that I do attend Intervarsity more because of the time schedule and like i mentioned I learn so much from both organizations.

So today we were shown a video during our time at Cru. Here it is:

After watching the video, we were asked to form a group consisting of 4 people. There was a list of questions that were displayed for us to answer. I took a picture of the questions but for you lovely people, I’m going to type it. Here are the questions.

  1. How does our relationship with God affect our daily living?
  2. What does it mean to “walk in the light”
  3. What are some practical ways we can love others?
  4. What is more difficult loving God or loving others?
  5. How is love and holiness connected?

As we pondered on the questions, we answered individually and we learned so much from each other. I hope you take the time to also answer these questions by yourself or with your friends/loved ones. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. Be encouraged & Stay Blessed 🙂

Open Our Hearts

I am currently doing the Bible study of James by Beth Moore. Its wonderful and insightful and life changing.James happens to be one of my favorite books in the Bible, and I love that it speaks specifically to the believer.  Image CreditToday I am working on James 1: 19-20This you know, my beloved brethren.  But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger:

“Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you” (James 1:19b-21 NIV).

Let’s say you’re a gardener. You’ve learned that you can take the exact same seed and plant it in three different locations and get three different results. In one spot, you’ll get giant tomatoes. In another, you’ll get small tomatoes. And in a third, you’ll get nothing. What’s the difference? It’s not the seed; it’s the soil. The soil must be prepared for the seed.

The same is true when you hear God’s Word. Your heart has to be prepared for the Word. If you get up late, have trouble finding a parking spot, and are irritated as you rush into church, you’re probably not going to hear God’s voice! You’re not in a receptive mood.

That’s why you can take two people to church, set them side-by-side, and one will walk out thinking God really spoke to him and the other won’t get anything out of the service. The heart of one person was prepared; the other’s heart wasn’t.

The Bible says, “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you”(James 1:19b-21 NIV).

For good reception, this passage teaches you have to have four attitudes:

  • You must be quiet. You can’t hear God if you’re talking.
  • You have to be calm. You can’t rush God. If you’re frantic, you’re not going to hear God. The Bible says, “Be still and know that I am God.” My translation of that is: “Sit down and shut up.”
  • You have to be clean. Before you can meet with God, you need to take out some emotional and spiritual garbage. You need to get rid of the stuff that stinks in your life. You get rid of the garbage by confessing your sin to God and agreeing with him that what you did was wrong.
  • You need to be humble. Be ready to do whatever God tells you from his Word. A prideful attitude won’t work.

Talk It Over

  • Why are silence and active listening such difficult things to practice? What can you do to minimize your distractions so that you are able to listen well?
  • What emotional or spiritual garbage is keeping you from hearing God’s voice today?
  • What new habits can you adopt to help prepare your family to hear from God during church, family or individual devotions, or at any time?

Faith Based Channels

Recently, I was watching a youtube video about this woman who rededicated her life to Christ. In her video, she mentioned that it was hard to come across Youtubers whose channels focused on God. I was surprised by her comment so I suggested her a few of them on that specific video. So I decided why not share some with you all too. I understood where the woman was coming from because a lot of youtubers make videos on hair, makeup, lookbooks and etc. I do enjoy watching a variety of things on Youtube but I’m usually listening to worship or tuning in to a Bible talk. On youtube, there is a notification button and it notifies me when someone makes a video. So below will be a few channels, you ladies and gentlemen can check out. I will post more but for now, check these amazing people out. Tell your friends and their friends. Be encouraged. Continue to grow in Lord.

Until next time stay blessed. Watch but don’t forget or substitute reading your Bible. Thank you for stopping by my blog. God bless you 🙂
