Happy New Month Everyone. What a great joy it is to be able to see a new day rather yet a new month. I hope your’e all doing well. God has been good. I’m trusting that this month will be a refreshing one filled with God’s grace, love, peace and his bountiful blessings to you and your family/loved ones. It was just yesterday that we started a new year and already we are half way towards another chapter. I personally don’t know how your year is coming along by far but I want to remind you of what God’s word says. I came across this Bible verse on a sudden day back in May while studying the word. Lord knows it was for a purpose why I came across this verse. The interesting thing is that I had a dot by this verse but on this day my eyes was set on this verse for a while. The Bible verse is Psalm 77: 11-14

I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
12 I will consider all your works
and meditate on all your mighty deeds.”

13 Your ways, God, are holy.
What god is as great as our God?
14 You are the God who performs miracles;
you display your power among the peoples.

Many times, when we are faced with lives trials, we tend to forget about the God we serve. We fix our eyes on our circumstances and turn our gaze away from the Cross. We run away from his presence where he sacrificed himself for us. I came across this Bible verse two days after I graduated from college. For me, I saw it as a reminder to not forget how far God has brought me. A young woman (Sasha) once said this to me “Sometimes, God will take you around in circles not to take you in a loop but to remind you where you came from.” In all things, we must learn to give thanks to God. Just as the stream flows but never forgets its source, may we never forget all that God has done for us despite the trials we will face in this life. If it means, getting a journal to document the day and date of what took place in your life, write it down. Write down your prayer requests and give thanks to God before and after you receive the good news. Despite the trials you will face in this month or the days ahead, know that God is present in every season of your life. As you spend time in his presence, in prayer, speak his words over your life/circumstance.

Prayer:

Lord I come before you today as I am. I lay everything before you. I thank you for this day and what it holds. Though I do not know what lies ahead of me, I know that you go before me and behind me. According to your word in 1 Peter 5:7, you alone tell us that we should cast our anxiety on you because you care. So Lord, I am laying everything at your altar. This day is yours. Order my steps. I surrender all that I am to you. Have your way in me. Let your will be done. In Jesus name, Amen.

Challenge:

  • Take time to reach out to your friends. Ask them for their requests. If you can pray for them while on the phone or alongside side with them, do so. If they refuse, you can pray for them. It breaks my heart when someone I know is hurting but no one is aware because they don’t know who to confide in. I understand that we are busy and we have our problems but if someone is your friend, you’ll take the time to reach out to them.
  • Spend more time in the Secret Place. More time in God’s presence. With so many of life’s demands, sometimes, we can get entangled in the world’s expectation of us that we don’t even make time to be in the secret place.
  • Random Act Of Kindness. Do something for someone. As we know it is a blessing to give. So give. Whether it is your time, a gift or whatever is laid upon your heart, do so with love.
  • Be careful of what you feed your spirit. Take time to re-evaluate the people you surround yourself with, the music you listen to and also the movies/shows you watch.
  • Take time for yourself. Treat yourself. You deserve it.

Cheers to what this month and what it has in stored for us. I absolutely love the month of July. Though I don’t always like the heat, I love the feel this month always brings. Until next time, live, love, laugh, smile and continue being you. God bless you all. Have a lovely fun-filled month. Let your light shine 🙂

Song of the day:

Overflowing With Joy

Happy Birthday Metallic Silver or Gold Balloon Kit:

Happy Thursday.. I hope all of you are doing well. So I have great news for you all. DRUM ROLL PLEASE ….  Today is my 3rd year anniversary since I started this blog. Yayy. On October 27th, 2013, I started this blog. I remember trying to come up with the blog name and it was extremely difficult. So I called up a friend and I told her that I need to start this blog before October 27th was over. So we were on the phone from like 10pm trying to figure out a name. I already had a few names listed but if you ask me now, I can’t recall the any of the name. I describe my motive for why I wanted to start the blog and also my primarily focus and so she helped me to come up with the name of the blog I have now. At the time, the title made sense but I wasn’t feeling it. I don’t know what I was thinking because I absolutely love it. By the way my friend also has a blog, so please check it out. Her blog name is gracehopelove … My primarily focus was to encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ. I’m sure we can all  we can all attest that this journey isn’t easy but God still goes behind and before us. I’m filled with gratitude. So today, I will be doing something a little different than usual. I will share a few of my poems and also a few Bible verses that have encouraged me in this walk thus far. Please feel free to also share.

Poem #1:

You gather your pains and worries. Cast them unto God. breathe. say your prayers and go to bed. Next day, you thank God, unwind, stretch. Start your day. Return to yourself & Repeat. -Karen Owusu

Poem #2

Do not envy other people’s blessings/gifts. There’s a gift inside of you. God does not re-heap blessings. Sometimes, God is going to bring some people into your life to stir up that gift but you have to birth and deliver it to the Universe. Think about it. What has he already given you but your so afraid and unsure of what those around you will think? Spend time in prayer. It’s your gift. No one can snatch it. It has taken time for you to recognize that gift but you will birth and deliver it. -Karen Owusu

Poem #3

For all that I am
for all that I’m still learning
for all that I’ve surpassed
for all the blessings
for the lives I’ve touched
for the souls
that I’ve connected with.
for every breath I’ve taken
for being alive
for the woman I am today
the woman i’m becoming
I am thankful to be here.
all thanks.
glory be to my God.

-Karen Owusu

Some of the Bible verses that have encouraged me and also spoke to me includes:

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. (Psalm 139:13-15)

Isaiah 61:1-3

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
    instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
    instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.

Psalm 23

(A Psalm of David.) The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Psalm 34:5

Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.

21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. (1 Peter 2:21)

Romans 8

You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life[d] because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of[e] his Spirit who lives in you.

12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.

Job 1:20-22

20 At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship 21 and said:

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
    and naked I will depart.[a]
The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away;
may the name of the Lord be praised.”

22 In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.

Hebrews 13:5

“Never will I leave you;
    never will I forsake you.”

Proverbs 16:3

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

I had so many but I had to narrow it down.

Thank you for all the time you take to read my blog. I thank God for leading you to my blog. I’m grateful for the opportunities to be able to encourage and also learn from you guys from your support. God bless you all. Sending you love, light and peace your way. May you continue to hold hands with God, grow and learn more about our Savior. Jesus is Risen. He is not sleeping. He is sitting on the throne, working it out for our good. Cheers to the months, days and years ahead. One thing I honestly struggle with is consistency. I just don’t posting for the sake of it. There has to be a purpose. So if there’s nothing for me to post, I don’t. I’ll pray on it and work on it. I can’t wait to see the future for this blog and what God has already begun because he alone will bring it to completions. Let’s fix our eyes on Jesus. Have a blessed night/weekend. Until next time, peace, love and many of God’s blessings to you, your family and loved ones. 🙂

My Firm Foundation

“We walk by faith, not by sight.”
2Co 5:7 NKJV

What Are You Seeing?

Your eyes can deceive you! Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery, dipped his coat in goat’s blood and told their father he’d been torn to pieces by a wild beast. As a result, the old man said, “I shall go down into the grave to my son in mourning” (Ge 37:35 NKJV). In reality not only was Joseph alive, he’d soon become prime minister of Egypt and save his family during the time of famine. But his father lived all those years grieving because of something he saw: a coat. Sometimes there’s a difference between facts and truth. The facts may confirm that the economy is bad, but the truth is, “God shall supply all your need according to his riches” (Php 4:19). One day Elisha and his servant woke up in the town of Dothan to discover they were surrounded by an enemy army. When the servant saw this, he panicked. But Elisha said, “‘Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’ And Elisha prayed…‘Lord…open his eyes that he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha” (2Ki 6:16-17 NKJV). God wants you to look to Him and know that in your darkest moment you don’t have to be afraid. What you have going for you is so much greater than anything that comes against you. So rise up in faith and say with the Psalmist, “My help comes from the Lord” (Ps 121:2 NKJV). Then act like you believe it!

Devotion:

It Is Good That You Recognize Your Weakness. That keeps you looking to Me, your Strength. Abundant life is not necessarily health and wealth; it is living in continual dependence on Me. Instead of trying to fit this day into a preconceived mold, relax and be on the lookout for what I am doing. That mind-set will free you to enjoy Me and to find what I have planned for you to do. This is far better than trying to make things go according to your own plan.

Don’t take yourself so seriously. Lighten up and laugh with Me. You have Me on your side, so what are you worried about? I can equip you to do absolutely anything, as long as it is My will. The more difficult your day, the more I yearn to help you. Anxiety wraps you up in yourself, trapping you in your own thoughts. When you look to Me and whisper My Name, you break free and receive My help. Focus on Me, and you will find Peace in My Presence.

I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me (I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency). ~Philippians 4:14 (AMP)

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. ~Proverbs 17:22

My Helper

My Helper

To be without a friend is to be poor indeed. – Tanzania

It’s Saturday. What a beautiful day in the neighborhood. I hope all is well with you all. Today be a blessing to someone. Live Life. Tomorrow is not guaranteed to no man. “Life comes with no guarantees, no time outs, no second chances. You just have to live life to the fullest. Tell someone what they mean to you and tell someone off, speak out, dance in the pouring rain, hold someone’s hand, comfort a friend, fall asleep watching the sun come up, stay up late, be a flirt, and smile until your face hurts. Don’t be afraid to take chances or fall in love and most of all, live in the moment because every second you spend angry or upset is a second of happiness you can never get back.”

We all need a helper in our lives. Someone who can listen to us and be there in our times of needs and vise versa. We can’t do it all alone. Good friends are hard to come by majority of the times. You never know who you will meet and that person can be your helper, your friend for a lifetime. Not everyone you meet is or should be classified as your friend. The term “friends” is used a lot in our generation. You must learn to differentiate. So be a helper. Give a helping hand to someone and be blessed. Give not to get something in return but from your heart. Someone needs you. Radiate your light.

Lead Me In Your Way

Image

I am leading you, step by step, through your life. Hold My hand in trusting dependence, letting Me guide you through this day. Your future looks uncertain and feels flimsy- even precarious. That is how it should be. Secret things belong to the Lord, and future things are secret things. When you try to figure out the future, you are grasping at things that are Mine. This, like all forms of worry, is an act of rebellion: doubting My promises to care for you.

Whenever you find yourself worrying about the future, repent and return to Me. I will show you the next step forward, and the one after that, and the one after that. Relax and enjoy the journey in My Presence, trusting Me to open up the way before you as you go.

The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. ~Deuteronomy 29:29

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My loving eye on you.

~Psalm 32:8

This is my devotion. I can’t even stretch it enough on how this touched me. I had to share it. You never know who is going through a situation and just a little word can help them out. This is the story of my life. I worry about my future. I find myself wondering about school. I’m a college student and for those who can relate know that college can be stressful. Sometimes, I feel like I’m not going anywhere. I feel like i’m in a box trying to find my way out. The Bible constantly tells us not to worry but sometimes I find myself worrying a lot. I can be too extreme. I often wonder if I would ever complete college and where would I be without focusing on the present. As I read this devotional, I just thought to myself, what would happen if i didn’t stress about school and just take it one day at a time? After all, we live one day at a time not even aware of what our day will hold. We rise up from bed by the Grace of God. We go into the world unsure of the people we will encounter and even the situations that will come our way. It was an on time reminder to leave everything There is no power in our hands but when we fully place our day in our Maker’s hand, great things fall in place. Committing your day into God’s hands is very important. Many times, we rush into our day without saying a word of prayer. Just like how a simple word can change a person’s life or even how our day will operate is the same in praying. Intercede for others. Pray until something happens. God bless you.

Lay Your Burdens

Image

I AM ABOVE ALL THINGS; your problems, your pain, and the swirling events in this ever changing world. When you behold My Face, your rise above circumstances and rest with me in Heavenly realms. This is the way of Peace, living in the Light of My Presence. I guarantee that you will always have problems in this life, but they must not become your focus. When you feel yourself sinking in the sea of circumstances, say; “Help me, Jesus!” and I will draw you back to Me. If you have to say that thousands of times daily, don’t be discouraged. I know your weakness and I meet you in that very place.

Ephesians 2:6
“And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,”

Matthew 14:28-31
“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said.
