His Peace I Receive

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace.”
Isa 26:3

Here is a prayer for peace: “Lord, Your Word says, ‘Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee.’ Your Word says, ‘The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace’ (Ps 29:11 NIV). Your Word says, ‘Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you…Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid’ (Jn 14:27 NIV). Your Word says, ‘The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus’ (Php 4:7 NIV). Today I need this peace which transcends understanding to settle my nerves and calm my mind. Instead of thinking about my fears and worries, help me to focus on Your goodness, Your faithfulness, Your healing power, Your overflowing resources, and Your forgiving heart. Take up residence within me and fill me with Your peace. Show me what’s robbing me of it. I really want to know, Father, so I can be specific in what I need to confess, what I need to commit to, and what I need to change. I open myself to You now. Teach me the secret of lasting peace. I thank You now for whatever it will take to help me receive the peace You have so generously offered to me. Your Word says, ‘Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts’ (Col 3:15 NIV). Today I want to be ruled by Your peace instead of my fears and worries. So I give all my concerns to You, trusting You to work them out for my good and Your glory. In Jesus’ Name I pray: Amen.”

His Promises Still Remain

“I will pour my blessing on your children.”
Isaiah 44:3

Parent, here’s a Bible promise you can stand on: “I will pour my Spirit into your descendants and my blessing on your children.” Your kids should be able to take up where you left off! Your ceiling should be their floor. They shouldn’t merely follow you; they should use the foundation you laid to build something greater. Don’t use the comfort of the status quo as an excuse for not challenging old thinking. To get beyond your mental barriers, you need to stop saying things like: “That’s just the way I am,” or “My family never amounted to much, so I won’t either.” When you say that, you’re contradicting God! When God delivered the Israelites from slavery, they started out for the Promised Land. The journey should have taken only eleven days but it ended up taking forty years. What happened? They complained endlessly, and as a result kept going around the same mountain again and again. Why? Because they’d been in slavery for four hundred years, and they thought and talked like slaves! They couldn’t grasp what God had promised them. Finally He told them, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Go in and take possession of the land the Lord swore he would give your descendants” (See Dt 2:3). If your past has been one of failure, draw a line in the sand today and declare, “Enough is enough. I’m going to trust God for bigger and better things!” It’s in such moments that destinies are changed. Bottom line: The decisions you make today will affect not only you, but your children—so ask God to help you make the right ones.

Lead Me In Your Way

I am leading you, step by step, through your life. Hold My hand in trusting dependence, letting Me guide you through this day. Your future looks uncertain and feels flimsy- even precarious. That is how it should be. Secret things belong to the Lord, and future things are secret things. When you try to figure out the future, you are grasping at things that are Mine. This, like all forms of worry, is an act of rebellion: doubting My promises to care for you.

Whenever you find yourself worrying about the future, repent and return to Me. I will show you the next step forward, and the one after that, and the one after that. Relax and enjoy the journey in My Presence, trusting Me to open up the way before you as you go.

The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. ~Deuteronomy 29:29

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My loving eye on you.

~Psalm 32:8

This is my devotion. I can’t even stretch it enough on how this touched me. I had to share it. You never know who is going through a situation and just a little word can help them out. This is the story of my life. I worry about my future. I find myself wondering about school. I’m a college student and for those who can relate know that college can be stressful. Sometimes, I feel like I’m not going anywhere. I feel like i’m in a box trying to find my way out. The Bible constantly tells us not to worry but sometimes I find myself worrying a lot. I can be too extreme. I often wonder if I would ever complete college and where would I be without focusing on the present. As I read this devotional, I just thought to myself, what would happen if i didn’t stress about school and just take it one day at a time? After all, we live one day at a time not even aware of what our day will hold. We rise up from bed by the Grace of God. We go into the world unsure of the people we will encounter and even the situations that will come our way. It was an on time reminder to leave everything There is no power in our hands but when we fully place our day in our Maker’s hand, great things fall in place. Committing your day into God’s hands is very important. Many times, we rush into our day without saying a word of prayer. Just like how a simple word can change a person’s life or even how our day will operate is the same in praying. Intercede for others. Pray until something happens. God bless you.

The Advocate

“The Spirit will…make it known to you.”
Jn 16:15 NIV

The Teacher

My Devotion (Morning)

The Holy Spirit, Who is your Teacher: (1) Wants you to search God’s Word for answers and direction. He doesn’t want you to be passive and simply accept whatever comes into your life. He wants you to turn to His Word for insight; to find divine solutions to the human problems confronting you day in and day out. He wants you to stand on His Word instead of lying down and saying, “I guess this is just the way it’s got to be.” Your Bible is a road map that will never steer you the wrong way. It’s a sword you can fight with, and win every time. “Meditate in it day and night…do according to all that is written in it. For then you will… have good success” (Jos 1:8 NKJV). (2) Wants you to grow by following in the footsteps of Jesus. The word “disciple” comes from the Greek word mathetes, which means “a learner or student.” In Jesus’ day disciples not only learned from the teacher’s lectures, but also by observing and experiencing every aspect of the teacher’s life. That’s how Jesus trained His twelve disciples. And finally the time came when He could say to them, “The works that I do shall [you] do also” (Jn 14:12). Peter, James, and John, “the inner circle,” had a more intimate relationship with Christ. That was not because He loved them more, but that He had a particular plan in mind for them. What’s God’s plan for you? That’s what the battle in your life is about. Satan will do all he can to put distance between you and God. Don’t let him!

Have a blessed day. God bless you.
