I’ll Praise Him

Hi everyone. I hope your doing well. So today, I just want to share this song I came across on my Youtube feed. I absolutely love listening to Hillsong along with other Christian bands. While in college, I got the opportunity to fellowship with Hillsong Church. It was beyond a blessing. This song has been on repeat. I couldn’t help but smile as I listened to song. There’s so much joy in the presence of the Lord. I hope you are blessed & filled with more joy as you listen to this song. 🙂

Is God Apart Of Your Plans?

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock” (Matthew 7:24 NIV).

The foundation of a house tells you how big the house can get. You can’t put a big house on a small or faulty foundation. It’ll collapse every time.

The same is true for our lives. You can’t become what God wants you to be on a faulty foundation. We’re given a lot of different options for what will be the foundation of our lives:

  • Popular culture. Some people think they’ll simply do what every other person is doing. If it’s popular, that’s what they do, too. Yet what’s popular today won’t be popular tomorrow. Basing your life on popular culture is like building a house on a constantly moving foundation. It doesn’t work!
  • Tradition. Other people build their lives on what has always been done or how their parents did it. That does make a little sense. Tradition becomes tradition because it works. But no tradition lasts forever. It eventually wears out, becomes obsolete, and is invalid. In Mark 7:8 Jesus tells the Pharisees never to put tradition before truth. It’s a good reminder for all of us.
  • Reason. God gave us the ability to reason; we need to use it. But our reason isn’t infallible. Proverbs 16:25 says, “There is a way that appears to be right,but in the end it leads to death” (NIV). The smartest among us will falter at times; it’s to be expected. Only God can be trusted all the time.
  • Emotions. Some build their lives on a feeling. If it feels right, they do it. But feelings lie — they lie all the time! You lie to yourself more than anyone else. If you live by your feelings, you’ll spend your life manipulated by your moods.

If it doesn’t work to build your life on popular culture, tradition, reason, or emotion, what should you build your life upon? God’s Word.

Jesus says this in Matthew 7:24: “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock” (NIV).

Popular culture changes, traditions grow stale, reason can be faulty, and emotions lie. Yet God’s Word never changes.

You may not always understand his Word. You may not always like it. It won’t always be politically correct.

The Christian Tag

Hey everyone. I hope your doing well on this beautiful day. So today I’m coming to you all with something different. It’s called the Christian Tag. I don’t know if you’ve heard of it before but let’s get to it. Here are the questions. Below 🙂

  1. Who were you before Christ and who are you now? When did you become a Christian?

Before I came to Christ, I was quiet. I was still that social butterfly who love talking to people. I think many times, when people share their testimonies of how they gave their lives to Christ, people expect for them to tell a story of how bad they were and the things they used to do but honestly that’s not always the case for everyone. For some people, they give their lives to Christ because they have hit rock bottom and they want to give this whole “Jesus” thing a try. It’s beyond a Jesus thing. They just aren’t always aware of it at the moment. Giving your life to Christ is not a trial and error experiment. It’s a serious commitment. Jesus has already proposed to you on the Cross. He is waiting for you to accept him if you haven’t already done so.

Before I came to know Christ, I found it difficult to love my skin color because I was made fun of in middle school, high school and college. Before coming to America, I never saw anything wrong with my skin but over the years it became a struggle for me because in middle school, I was given bleaching cream to lighten my shade of color. P. S. My family is from Ghana. My skin color is another topic for another day. That’s another story in itself. I gave my life to Christ at the age of eighteen. I was invited to church by a Muslim girl who was tying to convert into Christianity. Before this I was going to church. I knew who Christ was but it wasn’t until I started having a personal relationship with Christ. It’s a journey but I’m learning and growing. It’s been a blessing. Through the difficult times, God has been my strength. We all go through obstacles in this life. Just because someone doesn’t share their story with you doesn’t mean they haven’t faced any trials. In all things, we must give thanks unto God and share of what he has done. So many testimonies, my mouth cannot even contain. So I tell it to people. Waking up in the morning is a testimony for me. Not everyone get the opportunity to see a new day. In spite of all that we go through, may we never forget God is. I am the daughter of a King. My identity is in Christ. I am complete in Christ alone. He has paid it all. He makes no mistake in what he molds. He is still working in and out of me daily.

2. What is my favorite Bible verse?

To be honest, I have so many Bible verses that I love but I would list three of them.

For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how disciplined you are and how firm your faith in Christ is. So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. -Colossians 2:5-7

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.  Proverbs 3:5-6

The unfolding of your words gives light;
    it gives understanding to the simple. Psalm 119:130

3. What is your favorite Gospel Song?

I have too many. To be honest, I can’t just list one. So I’m going to list as many as possible but just a short version for you.

4. What is your favorite Christian Book?

  • Fifi Yorke: Expectation For Manifestation

A few book I’m looking forward to read includes,

Francis Chan: Crazy Love

Steven Furtick: Seven Mile Miracle (I’m telling Elevation Church/Worship is beyond a blessing).

Levi Lusko: Through The Eyes Of A Lion (He preached at Hillsong about looking his 5 year old daughter. The church sanctuary was in tears. I was so moved. I purchased the book and surprised a friend of mine. His testimony was a blessing to both of us. I can’t wait to read it.

5. Have you read the entire Bible?

No, I haven’t read the entire Bible.

6. Do you have a devotional?

Yes I do. I love reading Bible plans from the Holy Bible App. There’s also a devotional that my church gives us called “The Word Of the Day”. Also I enjoy and absolutely love reading devotionals from Rick Warren.

7. The oddest place you’ve prayed?

Great question because I have a few. I would have to say the oddest place I’ve prayed was sitting outside with my friend at an open space in University with our eyes closed while people were passing by. Another odd place would have to be the first time I did evangelism with my friend and we prayed for a person in the hallway by the Bookstore at my school. Lastly, just two days ago, my friend and I was praying for a friend of mine in one of the busiest places in my school where students pass by so much. Sometimes, I get a bit nervous to be honest but I still carry on.

8. What’s a passage or verse that has helped you during your walk with God?

Like I mentioned before, there’s a lot of passages that have helped me and encouraged me but I would have to say Psalm 23 and Proverbs 3:5-6. I learned Psalm 23 at the age of six or seven and that entire verse resonates to me.

9. What does it mean to follow Christ?

I believe that following Christ is to forsake your old life and picking up your Cross daily. Living and representing Christ through the way you live. We are reminded in Romans 12:2 that we shouldn’t conform to the patterns of the world but rather we should be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Then we will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

10. What advice would you give someone who wants to give their life to Christ?

Come as you are. God is waiting for you to be perfect. He is patiently waiting for you. Taste and see that the Lord is good for yourself. Don’t make judgements by what people have expressed to you. Don’t be afraid. Get to know God for yourself. It’s not about religion. It’s about having a personal  relationship. Just come as you are. God is waiting for you.

What did I learn at the block today?

The speaker opened up by sharing his experiences and gave us three takeaways points that God laid upon his heart.

  1. Experience the journey with others. The speaker briefly talked about how he and his sister went to wedding cake rock in Australia. It’s a bit of a journey to get to this place. He went with all his friends and his sisters. Literally 5 minutes away from being there, his sister started complaining and turned around. She was whining about how much she has to walk just to get to one place. She started heading back to the car they all drove in and 5 minutes later the rest of them were at the place and everyone who came besides his sister got to experience it. She missed out on the experience. When they got back to their car, she was on her phone playing candy crush while they were talking about the experience. When we do the journey with others, let us experience it. You never know what God can be doing at that very moment with you and those around us. Try new things. Do it not because you want to put a check on your checklist.
  2. Experience vision with others. The good thing about vision is that it gives us a sense of where we are going. He shared with us Proverbs 29:21
  3. Experience helps to open doors for others. It’s not so much about your resume or the things that you have done but through that experience that you had it can ignite something. The experience that we get to give to people is endless. If we are not afraid to give people what they want, like we will be able see so much more in our church, our communities and etc.

Power of Contentment

Merry Christmas to you all. On this day, let us remember that Jesus is the reason for the season. It’s not all about the gifts. Sometimes, we forget and get caught up in materialistic things and forget the reason why we celebrate this season. God has been so good to us. From January till December, he has kept us. Though some days are tougher than others, he has sought us through it all. “Not everyone is truly content with with his or her life. Often times we are unsatisfied and seek more for what we don’t have and who we are. Through scripture however, we are commanded to be content with all we have in life.” (Bible Study Tools). Let’s take a look at what Scriptures says in regards to being content. A great reminder of being content is found in Philippians 4:11-12.

12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
This is a reminder that no matter how little or small we have in life, we should always be thankful. There’s nothing wrong with worker hard to purchase something you want but when it becomes an idol in your life then that when it becomes a problem. So as this day is wrapping up, take time to reflect and write down what your’e thankful for. During this time, there are people all around the world, who don’t have the means of giving but they are still content. We must learn to have a heart of gratitude in every season, not just when we receive gifts but in those times when we have to be the givers. May God help us to be content in everything. May we be seekers and doers of his word. Remember that God loves you, he cares for you and he has a plan for your life. Stay blessed.  🙂

WHY JESUS CAME

Life is a journey with a definite beginning and end. And if you’re wise you’ll do what Enoch did for 300 years—he walked with God. Can you imagine how well you’d know God after spending all those years with Him? There’s nothing dull or boring about walking with God. The Psalmist says, “You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence” (Ps 16:11 NIV). God made you for Himself, and only when you discover His purpose for your life will you find peace and joy. If you were to take a fish out of the ocean and place it on the beach, you’d see its scales dry up as it gasped for breath. Is that fish happy? No. If you covered it with a mountain of cash, would it be happy? No. Would an iPad, a good book, and a cool drink make it happy? No. Would a new wardrobe? No. Only one thing will make it happy: putting it back in the water. That fish will never be happy on the beach because it wasn’t made for the beach. It was made for the ocean, in the same way you were made for fellowship with God. You’ll always feel like a fish out of water—never knowing peace and joy—until you find Him. And the good news is He’s as close to you as a prayer. Once you ask Him into your heart you’ll never feel empty again. Do you know why Jesus came that first Christmas? He tells us: “So that [you] may have the full measure of my joy within” (Jn 17:13 NIV).

Through It All

Happy New Month. Yet another month, God has brought us through. I don’t know what you are facing in this season but know that and believe in your heart that Christ is Enough. The Bible reminds us of God’s grace. Every morning, we wake up it’s all because of his Grace. Be reminded that our tears are still prayers to God. When you feel like you are stuck and cannot move on, know that I am praying for you. Be reminded that God still cares.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

So in our weakness, know that God will strengthen you. It hasn’t been easy facing every trial but know that you are never alone. Though the storms may come, know that there’s a God, our God that is greater than ever trial we will ever face. We birth testimonies to share of the goodness of Christ even in our pains.
