Refresh Us

simply-divine-creation:
“ Julia @humphreyandgrace.
”

Happy New Month Everyone. What a great joy it is to be able to see a new day rather yet a new month. I hope your’e all doing well. God has been good. I’m trusting that this month will be a refreshing one filled with God’s grace, love, peace and his bountiful blessings to you and your family/loved ones. It was just yesterday that we started a new year and already we are half way towards another chapter. I personally don’t know how your year is coming along by far but I want to remind you of what God’s word says. I came across this Bible verse on a sudden day back in May while studying the word. Lord knows it was for a purpose why I came across this verse. The interesting thing is that I had a dot by this verse but on this day my eyes was set on this verse for a while. The Bible verse is Psalm 77: 11-14

I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
    yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
12 I will consider all your works
    and meditate on all your mighty deeds.”

13 Your ways, God, are holy.
    What god is as great as our God?
14 You are the God who performs miracles;
    you display your power among the peoples.

Many times, when we are faced with lives trials, we tend to forget about the God we serve. We fix our eyes on our circumstances and turn our gaze away from the Cross. We run away from his presence where he sacrificed himself for us. I came across this Bible verse two days after I graduated from college. For me, I saw it as a reminder to not forget how far God has brought me. A young woman (Sasha) once said this to me “Sometimes, God will take you around in circles not to take you in a loop but to remind you where you came from.” In all things, we must learn to give thanks to God. Just as the stream flows but never forgets its source, may we never forget all that God has done for us despite the trials we will face in this life. If it means, getting a journal to document the day and date of what took place in your life, write it down. Write down your prayer requests and give thanks to God before and after you receive the good news. Despite the trials you will face in this month or the days ahead, know that God is present in every season of your life. As you spend time in his presence, in prayer, speak his words over your life/circumstance.

Prayer:

Lord I come before you today as I am. I lay everything before you. I thank you for this day and what it holds. Though I do not know what lies ahead of me, I know that you go before me and behind me. According to your word in 1 Peter 5:7, you alone tell us that we should cast our anxiety on you because you care. So Lord, I am laying everything at your altar. This day is yours. Order my steps. I surrender all that I am to you. Have your way in me. Let your will be done. In Jesus name, Amen.

Challenge:

  • Take time to reach out to your friends. Ask them for their requests. If you can pray for them while on the phone or alongside side with them, do so. If they refuse, you can pray for them. It breaks my heart when someone I know is hurting but no one is aware because they don’t know who to confide in. I understand that we are busy and we have our problems but if someone is your friend, you’ll take the time to reach out to them.
  • Spend more time in the Secret Place. More time in God’s presence. With so many of life’s demands, sometimes, we can get entangled in the world’s expectation of us that we don’t even make time to be in the secret place.
  • Random Act Of Kindness. Do something for someone. As we know it is a blessing to give. So give. Whether it is your time, a gift or whatever is laid upon your heart, do so with love.
  • Be careful of what you feed your spirit. Take time to re-evaluate the people you surround yourself with, the music you listen to and also the movies/shows you watch.
  • Take time for yourself. Treat yourself. You deserve it.

Cheers to what this month and what it has in stored for us. I absolutely love the month of July. Though I don’t always like the heat, I love the feel this month always brings. Until next time, live, love, laugh, smile and continue being you. God bless you all. Have a lovely fun-filled month. Let your light shine 🙂

The Christian Tag

Hey everyone. I hope your doing well on this beautiful day. So today I’m coming to you all with something different. It’s called the Christian Tag. I don’t know if you’ve heard of it before but let’s get to it. Here are the questions. Below 🙂

  1. Who were you before Christ and who are you now? When did you become a Christian?

Before I came to Christ, I was quiet. I was still that social butterfly who love talking to people. I think many times, when people share their testimonies of how they gave their lives to Christ, people expect for them to tell a story of how bad they were and the things they used to do but honestly that’s not always the case for everyone. For some people, they give their lives to Christ because they have hit rock bottom and they want to give this whole “Jesus” thing a try. It’s beyond a Jesus thing. They just aren’t always aware of it at the moment. Giving your life to Christ is not a trial and error experiment. It’s a serious commitment. Jesus has already proposed to you on the Cross. He is waiting for you to accept him if you haven’t already done so.

Before I came to know Christ, I found it difficult to love my skin color because I was made fun of in middle school, high school and college. Before coming to America, I never saw anything wrong with my skin but over the years it became a struggle for me because in middle school, I was given bleaching cream to lighten my shade of color. P. S. My family is from Ghana. My skin color is another topic for another day. That’s another story in itself. I gave my life to Christ at the age of eighteen. I was invited to church by a Muslim girl who was tying to convert into Christianity. Before this I was going to church. I knew who Christ was but it wasn’t until I started having a personal relationship with Christ. It’s a journey but I’m learning and growing. It’s been a blessing. Through the difficult times, God has been my strength. We all go through obstacles in this life. Just because someone doesn’t share their story with you doesn’t mean they haven’t faced any trials. In all things, we must give thanks unto God and share of what he has done. So many testimonies, my mouth cannot even contain. So I tell it to people. Waking up in the morning is a testimony for me. Not everyone get the opportunity to see a new day. In spite of all that we go through, may we never forget God is. I am the daughter of a King. My identity is in Christ. I am complete in Christ alone. He has paid it all. He makes no mistake in what he molds. He is still working in and out of me daily.

2. What is my favorite Bible verse?

To be honest, I have so many Bible verses that I love but I would list three of them.

For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how disciplined you are and how firm your faith in Christ is. So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. -Colossians 2:5-7

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.  Proverbs 3:5-6

The unfolding of your words gives light;
    it gives understanding to the simple. Psalm 119:130

3. What is your favorite Gospel Song?

I have too many. To be honest, I can’t just list one. So I’m going to list as many as possible but just a short version for you.

  • We Will Worship// This I Know (P. S. Favorite Worship Team)
  • Jaye Thomas: We Love Your Name; Pursuit Of You  (P.S. Favorite Gospel Artist)
  • Elevation Worship: Resurrecting
  • Joe Mettle: All I Want Is You
  • Sinach: The Name Of Jesus
  • Joyous Celebration: I Press
  • Sophia Shepherd: Hide Me Away Lord
  • We Will Worship// Like Oil
  • Covenant Worship: How Great
  • William Murphy: Everlasting God
  • Hillsong: Cornerstone; Christ Alone

I mean I can go on with worship songs because that’s what I listen to majority of the time. I believe that it’s important what we feed our spirits.

4. What is your favorite Christian Book?

  • Priscilla Shirer: The Resolution For Women
  • Fifi Yorke: Expectation For Manifestation

A few book I’m looking forward to read includes,

Francis Chan: Crazy Love

Steven Furtick: Seven Mile Miracle (I’m telling Elevation Church/Worship is beyond a blessing).

Levi Lusko: Through The Eyes Of A Lion (He preached at Hillsong about looking his 5 year old daughter. The church sanctuary was in tears. I was so moved. I purchased the book and surprised a friend of mine. His testimony was a blessing to both of us. I can’t wait to read it.

5. Have you read the entire Bible?

No, I haven’t read the entire Bible.

6. Do you have a devotional?

Yes I do. I love reading Bible plans from the Holy Bible App. There’s also a devotional that my church gives us called “The Word Of the Day”. Also I enjoy and absolutely love reading devotionals from Rick Warren.

7. The oddest place you’ve prayed?

Great question because I have a few. I would have to say the oddest place I’ve prayed was sitting outside with my friend at an open space in University with our eyes closed while people were passing by. Another odd place would have to be the first time I did evangelism with my friend and we prayed for a person in the hallway by the Bookstore at my school. Lastly, just two days ago, my friend and I was praying for a friend of mine in one of the busiest places in my school where students pass by so much. Sometimes, I get a bit nervous to be honest but I still carry on.

8. What’s a passage or verse that has helped you during your walk with God?

Like I mentioned before, there’s a lot of passages that have helped me and encouraged me but I would have to say Psalm 23 and Proverbs 3:5-6. I learned Psalm 23 at the age of six or seven and that entire verse resonates to me.

9. What does it mean to follow Christ?

I believe that following Christ is to forsake your old life and picking up your Cross daily. Living and representing Christ through the way you live. We are reminded in Romans 12:2 that we shouldn’t conform to the patterns of the world but rather we should be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Then we will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

10. What advice would you give someone who wants to give their life to Christ?

Come as you are. God is waiting for you to be perfect. He is patiently waiting for you. Taste and see that the Lord is good for yourself. Don’t make judgements by what people have expressed to you. Don’t be afraid. Get to know God for yourself. It’s not about religion. It’s about having a personal  relationship. Just come as you are. God is waiting for you.

So who do I tag? Honey, I tag everyone. Come on. Share what the Lord has done for you. Until next time, stay blessed and encouraged.

Faith Based Channels

Recently, I was watching a youtube video about this woman who rededicated her life to Christ. In her video, she mentioned that it was hard to come across Youtubers whose channels focused on God. I was surprised by her comment so I suggested her a few of them on that specific video. So I decided why not share some with you all too. I understood where the woman was coming from because a lot of youtubers make videos on hair, makeup, lookbooks and etc. I do enjoy watching a variety of things on Youtube but I’m usually listening to worship or tuning in to a Bible talk. On youtube, there is a notification button and it notifies me when someone makes a video. So below will be a few channels, you ladies and gentlemen can check out. I will post more but for now, check these amazing people out. Tell your friends and their friends. Be encouraged. Continue to grow in Lord.

Until next time stay blessed. Watch but don’t forget or substitute reading your Bible. Thank you for stopping by my blog. God bless you 🙂
