His Promises Still Remain

“I will pour my blessing on your children.”
Isaiah 44:3

BLESS FUTURE GENERATIONS

Parent, here’s a Bible promise you can stand on: “I will pour my Spirit into your descendants and my blessing on your children.” Your kids should be able to take up where you left off! Your ceiling should be their floor. They shouldn’t merely follow you; they should use the foundation you laid to build something greater. Don’t use the comfort of the status quo as an excuse for not challenging old thinking. To get beyond your mental barriers, you need to stop saying things like: “That’s just the way I am,” or “My family never amounted to much, so I won’t either.” When you say that, you’re contradicting God! When God delivered the Israelites from slavery, they started out for the Promised Land. The journey should have taken only eleven days but it ended up taking forty years. What happened? They complained endlessly, and as a result kept going around the same mountain again and again. Why? Because they’d been in slavery for four hundred years, and they thought and talked like slaves! They couldn’t grasp what God had promised them. Finally He told them, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Go in and take possession of the land the Lord swore he would give your descendants” (See Dt 2:3). If your past has been one of failure, draw a line in the sand today and declare, “Enough is enough. I’m going to trust God for bigger and better things!” It’s in such moments that destinies are changed. Bottom line: The decisions you make today will affect not only you, but your children—so ask God to help you make the right ones.

Leap Of Faith

“Because you say so, I will.”
Lk 5:5 NIV

UNDERSTANDING HOW GOD WORKS

The Bible says: “When he [Jesus] had finished speaking, he said to Simon, ‘Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.’ Simon answered, ‘Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will’…When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break… When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees…For he and all his companions were astonished…Then Jesus said…‘Don’t be afraid; from now on you will catch men.’ So they …left everything and followed him” (vv. 4-11 NIV). The real test of your faith comes when nothing you’ve tried has worked, and God tells you to do something that stretches your faith to its limit. At that point you have two choices: Give in to your doubts, or say with Peter, “Because You say so, I will.” This story teaches us God works in three ways: (1) He uses the common to do the uncommon. In their workplace where nothing special ever seemed to happen, Jesus showed up, called them, and changed their lives. So look for God in your daily routine, and don’t be surprised when He surprises you. (2) He moves you out from the security of the shallow to the risks of the deep. The great catches and the great storms are both in the same sea. If you want one, you have to contend with the other. No risk, no reward. (3) He involves you in one thing to teach you another. Christ’s plan for these men was to involve them in an even greater miracle: fishing for souls. Today that’s His plan for you too. And it begins when you say, “Lord, because You say so, I will.”

Show Me Your Way

Image

I AM WITH YOU, watching over you constantly. I am Emmanuel (God with you); My Presence enfolds you in radiant Love. Nothing, including the brightest blessings and the darkest trials, can separate you from Me. Some of My children find Me more readily during dark times, when difficulties force them to depend on Me. Others feel closer to Me when their lives are filled with good things. They respond with thanksgiving and praise, thus opening wide the door to My Presence.

I know precisely what you need to draw nearer to Me. Go through each day looking for what I have prepared for you. Accept every event as My hand-tailored provision for your needs. When you view your life this way, the most reasonable response is to be thankful. Do not reject any of My gifts; find Me in every situation.

Matthew 1:23; Colossians 2:6-7

Make up your mind not to put any stumbling block…in your brother’s way.”
Ro 14:13 NIV

Deal with the Stumbling Blocks (1)

If you want to win someone to Christ, there are certain stumbling blocks you may have to remove. Let’s be honest, people are turned off by religion for a lot of reasons-legitimate ones. Let’s look at some: (1) Hypocrisy. Think about the twelve disciples; one of them betrayed Jesus, one denied Him, and one doubted Him. That’s a 25 percent default rate! But the good news is, Jesus continues to love us and work with us in spite of our problems. (2) Terminology. If you grew up in church, you’re probably familiar with Bible terminology. But don’t assume everybody else is, or you’ll talk over their heads. When Jesus talked to shepherds He discussed sheep. When He talked to farmers He discussed sowing and reaping. Identify the person’s interests and spiritual needs, then use language they understand. (3) Negative emphasis. If your major emphasis is on what people can’t do, they’ll run in the opposite direction. A well-known preacher says, “I grew up understanding what our church was against, but never what it was for. Basically, we were against everything!” Smiling, he added, “We preached against smoking and drinking. We especially preached against adultery, because we believed that could lead to dancing.” Seriously, the gospel is not about what you lose when you come to Christ, but what you gain. Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (Jn 10:10 NIV). If you’re serious about winning people to Christ, you must recognize the stumbling blocks that stand in their way and try to remove them.

“Take heart…l have overcome the world.”
Jas 4:17 NKJV

The Sin of Omission

We tend to focus on sins of commission—the wrong we do. But what about sins of omission—the good we fail to do? In Christ’s parables when someone was condemned, it was often over a sin of omission. A man was put out of a wedding because he had no wedding garment (See Mt 22:12). Five virgins were excluded from the wedding party because they’d no oil in their lamps (See Mt 25:3-11). A servant who buried his talent in the ground instead of using it, forfeited it (See Mt 25:25-28). A rich man who failed to care for his neighbor was condemned for it (See Lk 16:19-24). A barren fig tree that failed to produce fruit was cursed and died (See Mk 11:20-24). You say, “But I’m interested in a deeper spiritual life.” Well, the deepest spiritual life is one spent doing good to others! And it’s the basis on which you’ll be judged and rewarded. “Then the King will…say…‘I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’ Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’ And He will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me’” (Mt 25:41-45 NLT). So when you’ve a chance to do good—do it!

Devotion: Jesus Calling (March 19)

I SPEAK TO YOU FROM THE DEPTHS OF YOUR BEING. Hear Me saying soothing words of Peace, assuring you of My Love. Do not listen to voices of accusation, for they are not from Me. I speak to you in love – tones, lifting you up. My Spirit convicts cleanly, without crushing words of shame. Let the Spirit take charge of your mind, combing out the tangles of deception. Be transformed by the truth that I live within you.

The Light of My Presence is shining upon you, in benedictions of Peace. Let My Light shine in you; don’t dim it with worries or fears. Holiness is letting me live through you. Since I dwell in you, you are fully equipped to be holy. Pause before responding to people or situations, giving My Spirit space to act through you. Hasty words and actions leave no room for Me; this is atheistic living. I want to inhabit all your moments–gracing your thoughts, words, and behavior.

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. ~Romans 8:1-2

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. ~Colossians 1:27

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; ~1 Corinthians 6:19

My Helper

My Helper

To be without a friend is to be poor indeed. – Tanzania

It’s Saturday. What a beautiful day in the neighborhood. I hope all is well with you all. Today be a blessing to someone. Live Life. Tomorrow is not guaranteed to no man. “Life comes with no guarantees, no time outs, no second chances. You just have to live life to the fullest. Tell someone what they mean to you and tell someone off, speak out, dance in the pouring rain, hold someone’s hand, comfort a friend, fall asleep watching the sun come up, stay up late, be a flirt, and smile until your face hurts. Don’t be afraid to take chances or fall in love and most of all, live in the moment because every second you spend angry or upset is a second of happiness you can never get back.”

We all need a helper in our lives. Someone who can listen to us and be there in our times of needs and vise versa. We can’t do it all alone. Good friends are hard to come by majority of the times. You never know who you will meet and that person can be your helper, your friend for a lifetime. Not everyone you meet is or should be classified as your friend. The term “friends” is used a lot in our generation. You must learn to differentiate. So be a helper. Give a helping hand to someone and be blessed. Give not to get something in return but from your heart. Someone needs you. Radiate your light.

Endless Love

Image

I Love You For Who You Are, not for what you do. Many voices vie for control of your mind, especially when you sit in the silence. You must learn to discern what is My voice and what is not. Ask My Spirit to give you this discernment. Many of My children run around in circles, trying to obey the various voices directing their lives. This results in fragmented, frustrating patterns of living. Do not fall into this trap. Walk closely with Me each moment, listening for My directives and enjoying My companionship. Refuse to let other voices tie you up in knots. My sheep know My voice and follow Me wherever I lead.

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; One Lord, one faith, one baptism; One God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. ~Ephesians 4:1-6

When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. ~John: 10:4

Draw Me Close

Draw Me Close

I’m coming back to the heart of worship
And it’s all about You,
It’s all about You, Jesus
I’m sorry, Lord, for the thing I’ve made it
When it’s all about You,
It’s all about You, Jesus
(Michael W. Smith)

Draw me close to you
Never let me go
I lay it all down again
To hear you say that I’m your friend
You are my desire
No one else will do
Cause nothing else can take your place
To feel the warmth of your embrace
Help me find the way
Bring me back to you
(Michael W. Smith)

When I see pictures like this, i get moved. Have you ever listened to a song that drops you down to your knees, drowned in tears? Like Lord, I want to know you more than ever before. More than last month, last year, more than yesterday. I desire to know you more. No more limitations. Anything that distracts my relationship with you, remove those particles from my life. I’m so lost without you. That’s my life. Sometimes, i feel like I’m not there. Where? Nearer to God. Just so many distractions and excuses in my head. Postponing and being lazy to read the Bible. That was before. I’m growing and yearning for more. More of Jesus and less of me. “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” (Psalm 73:26). Our flesh is weak but our spirit is willing. Reading the Bible and being the best I can be. It’s actually so interesting. I started this One Year Plan on the Holy Bible App and it’s just been great. Knowing that every day, there is a task to be done. One of them including Reading the Bible. I’m so motivated and excited knowing that I will finish reading the Bible but actually getting something out of reading. Not just skimming and getting check marks for unfinished business. I am nothing but mere dust. I want to be filled with the Holy Spirit. I want my faith to find it’s resting place. Sometimes, my faith is shaken by the troubles of this world. I question and ponder. I pray and feel so confident when I pray but once I step out and get a gaze of the outside world, my mind swirls. Turning left and right, people are going through so much. People losing their lives, a person on the street corner begging for money and not having a place called home. It pains the heart and soul. It’s called life but I’m so grateful. Grateful to be alive, roof over my head and food to eat. A place to call home and good friends to call when i feel all alone. I’m beyond thankful. God has been good. My desire is to know and to experience the love of God. The depth, height and width of his love. God is not finished with me and he’s surely not finished with you.
