“We walk by faith, not by sight.”
2Co 5:7 NKJV

What Are You Seeing?

Your eyes can deceive you! Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery, dipped his coat in goat’s blood and told their father he’d been torn to pieces by a wild beast. As a result, the old man said, “I shall go down into the grave to my son in mourning” (Ge 37:35 NKJV). In reality not only was Joseph alive, he’d soon become prime minister of Egypt and save his family during the time of famine. But his father lived all those years grieving because of something he saw: a coat. Sometimes there’s a difference between facts and truth. The facts may confirm that the economy is bad, but the truth is, “God shall supply all your need according to his riches” (Php 4:19). One day Elisha and his servant woke up in the town of Dothan to discover they were surrounded by an enemy army. When the servant saw this, he panicked. But Elisha said, “‘Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’ And Elisha prayed…‘Lord…open his eyes that he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha” (2Ki 6:16-17 NKJV). God wants you to look to Him and know that in your darkest moment you don’t have to be afraid. What you have going for you is so much greater than anything that comes against you. So rise up in faith and say with the Psalmist, “My help comes from the Lord” (Ps 121:2 NKJV). Then act like you believe it!

Devotion:

It Is Good That You Recognize Your Weakness. That keeps you looking to Me, your Strength. Abundant life is not necessarily health and wealth; it is living in continual dependence on Me. Instead of trying to fit this day into a preconceived mold, relax and be on the lookout for what I am doing. That mind-set will free you to enjoy Me and to find what I have planned for you to do. This is far better than trying to make things go according to your own plan.

Don’t take yourself so seriously. Lighten up and laugh with Me. You have Me on your side, so what are you worried about? I can equip you to do absolutely anything, as long as it is My will. The more difficult your day, the more I yearn to help you. Anxiety wraps you up in yourself, trapping you in your own thoughts. When you look to Me and whisper My Name, you break free and receive My help. Focus on Me, and you will find Peace in My Presence.

I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me (I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency). ~Philippians 4:14 (AMP)

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. ~Proverbs 17:22
